It is a great honour to write a short message of welcome as the newly appointed Artistic Director of the Dublin International Piano Competition, only the second in the 36-year history of the organisation. I pay tribute to my predecessor John O’Conor for all the hard work and dedication he has devoted to the Competition, alongside his co-founders Ann Fuller, Laurie Cearr and the late Ida Delamer.
I will do my very best to write the next chapter in the DIPC’s story together with the Executive Director, Adrienne Carolan, and a new Administrator who will be appointed in the coming weeks.
The next Competition will take place in May 2025 and in the intervening years we hope to organise many events to keep the Competition active and present in people’s minds. We look forward to having Yukine Kuroki, the brilliant winner of the 2022 Competition, back in Ireland many times to remind us of her dazzling talent.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Competition down through the years. Now, more than ever, we need the continued support of our funders and sponsors as well as our treasured DIPC Friends to ensure that the Competition can be a hugely successful event in May 2025. Our volunteers, known collectively as Team Harmony, also play a very important role in ensuring the smooth running of the event and I thank them for their input.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you can help us in any way as we work towards the 13th DIPC. Click here to find out more about the DIPC Friends and how you can get involved.
