In appreciation of Ida Delamer — one of the Dublin International Piano Competition’s founders

“The DIPC are very sad to announce the death of one of its founders, Ida Delamer, in whose house the idea of the Dublin Competition was first discussed between myself and Ann Fuller way back in 1985. Ida immediately offered to become a part of the original committee and the generosity of herself and her husband Peter were very important in the formation of our plans. The original foursome also included Laurie Cearr, then an important member of the Music Department of RTE, our national broadcaster. It is difficult to list the many ways in which Ida became an integral part of the planning of the competition  I cannot remember her ever being annoyed or angry and she was always her graceful  and charming self, and this charm encompassed all who came across her. I will always remember her with the greatest affection and deep appreciation for all her efforts.”
